Cross border work is taking up an increasing part of the assignments entrusted to us at Kromann Reumert. Responding to those demands, we will broaden our capabilities and focus on the London office to cover more practice areas. Among the notable changes we will be making is a reorganisation of the management of our London office to be headed jointly by five of our partners, who will be in circulation between London and Copenhagen. The goal is to boost and focus our activities in London and to strengthen and expand our existing local network, and better support our core team of 4-5 attorneys stationed there on secondment.

Danish lawyers but with a proven international track record

While the five partners Teis Gullitz-Wormslev, Jakob Hans Johansen, Christian Lundgren, Thomas Kaas, and Claus Juel Hansen each have their unique specialist skills, they all share a solid international track record and many years of international experience. Between them, they span such practice areas as M&A, capital markets, financing, insolvency and restructuring, and dispute resolution.

"We’re seeing a continuing growth in cross-border transactions and cases  inbound as well as outbound  and many of them continue to originate from the London market. By adding to our range of practice areas with a permanent representation in London we are responding to the generally increased specialisation of legal services," says Teis Gullitz-Wormslev, illustrating his point with examples of current cases where Kromann Reumert’s international capabilities and network have been sought by local Danish clients, e.g. FLSmidth's acquisition of Thyssenkrupp’s mining activities and Novo Holdings Principal Investments’ acquisition of BBI Diagnostics. But also, in many other areas such as financing, restructuring and dispute resolution, cross border work is on the rise.

30 years in London

Kromann Reumert has had an office in London for over 30 years, with partners and employed attorneys stationed there on longer secondments.

"Having the London office has always been important for us to stay connected and updated on the local marketplace and business community of international law firms, investment banks, PE funds etc. It is an integrated part of our firm, how we interact, and has helped us in building and maintaining a strong international network and great relationships over the years," says Jakob Hans Johansen and explains:

"We are, and have every intention of continuing to be, a Danish law firm with an international outlook. And we wish to keep growing and improving. The world is increasingly inter-linked  culturally, economically and on a number of other parameters as well  and our clients’ businesses and interests are shifting more and more to an international stage. This, of course, challenge us to keep up, to stay relevant, and to stay competitive, but also we are relying even more on our international network in helping us deliver what our clients expect."
