The world's largest wind farm is now supplying UK homes with clean energy

The Hornsea 2 wind farm – the largest wind farm in the world – has started operating. We have advised EKF (Denmark's Export Credit Agency) on the project finance.

Hornsea 2 is located approximately 89 km (55.3 miles) off the Yorkshire coast (UK) in the North Sea, adjacent to Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm. The wind farm spans an area of 462 km2 – equal to more than 64,000 football fields.

The wind farm consists of 165 turbines of 8MW each, creating a total of 1,4 GW which will be enough to provide clean renewable energy to more than 1.4 million UK homes. Each wind turbine blade is 81m long. One rotation of the wind turbine blades can power an average UK home for 24 hours. The wind farm became fully operational on 31 August 2022.

We are proud to have advised EKF on the project finance and congratulate all parties on the project for reaching financial close.
