The State Prosecutor charges demolition firms with cartel activities

The Danish State Prosecutor for Serious Economic and International Crime (the Prosecutor) has charged six demolition firms with illegal bid rigging in the period from May 2011 to October 2013. The charge was brought following a notification by the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority which accused the firms of having coordinated their bids in several tenders.

By senior intern Mikkel Haugaard

The case started in the autumn of 2015 when the Competition and Consumer Authority conducted dawn raids against a number of demolition firms. The Authority suspected the firms of coordinating their prices in connection with tenders. In April 2016, the Authority therefore referred the case to the Prosecutor for further investigation.

Having completed its investigations, the Prosecutor has now brought a charge against six of the demolition firms and their management for having coordinated their bids for demolition contracts and thus violated the prohibition of cartels in the period from May 2011 to October 2013. The contracts were tendered by both private and public clients.

The case is still pending in the court.
