Background

As early as 2017, the Danish Competition Council held that Team DS had unlawfully coordinated prices and encouraged the illegal exchange of information on the retail market for cameras and camera accessories, thus infringing the rules of the Danish Competition Act. The Council ordered Team DS to cease its unlawful activities and further resolved to submit the matter to the Danish State Prosecutor for Serious Economic and International Crime for prosecution. Team DS appealed the decision to the Danish Competition Appeals Tribunal, which affirmed the Council’s decision. For details, please see our previous news article.

The penalty notice

In August 2019, the State Prosecutor issued a penalty notice to Team DS for the amount of DKK 1.3 million. Now, Team DS has accepted the penalty, acknowledging infringement of the Competition Act. Also, a senior employee of Team DS has pleaded guilty and agreed to pay a personal fine of DKK 100,000.
